22 Apartments, over 5 Floors.
PB&A Project Architect: Andrew Smith
- Efficient floor plan built around a single circulation core to the south.
- Each level features five apartments, except for the ground floor, which has car parking to the west, a lobby in the centre and two units with private courts to the east.
Located on a prominent corner site in the heart of residential Point Chevalier, Point & Miller is the latest boutique apartment development consisting of only 22 apartments. Point & Miller is the third project PB&A have worked on with Craig Kells. Both previous projects – The Saint and The Barrington, were shortlisted for the NZIA local award and The Barrington achieved that success. These projects provided an opportunity to be creative, unique and intimate. Point & Miller certainly fits that brief with a sensitivity of scale, textual aesthetic and simple diagrammatic.
The development has a raw palette of monochromatic materials paired with a unique terracotta tile laid in a vertical pattern. Architectural detailing such as the extruded brick, exposed concrete frame and the black window frames add texture and articulation to its simple form. Red bricks from the original units on the site have even been repurposed into the boundary wall. The effect is a bold, modern building that exudes all the character and style of the surrounding suburb.
