Harbour City’s small site and prime inner city position presented some unique urban design and engineering challenges. Keeping city sight lines open while providing an upmarket development that maximised potential views and natural light for the building called for an inventive design.
The height and slender profile of the tower required close collaboration with project engineers. Innovative structural solutions, including liquid tuned damper tanks, were utilised to address building sway. As well as securing harbour and city views for a range of apartments, the clever design allowed for a large swimming pool on the third floor – a premium amenity in the inner city.
The end result is an elegant building that sits well in the CBD skyline. Encompassing 290 apartments and a rooftop penthouse, the tower rises above two stories of retail and office space, and is anchored to the ground by a curved cornerstone design which provides grandeur on a human scale.
